Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) Charges filed by neaso
NEASO has been forced to file multiple Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) against the National Education Association (NEA) because NEA has repeatedly failed to comply with basic union requirements.
The charges relate to retaliatory actions by an NEA manager against a NEASO staff member for reporting a physical assault as well as a failure by NEA to bargain over unilateral changes in working conditions.
This filing concerns NEA’s failure to answer NEASO’s information request about outsourcing more than $50 million worth of employee work to contractors. NEASO requested information about these contractors. Contrarily, NEA proposed removing the current restrictions and parameters on contracting. NEA’s failure to provide the information requested violates its obligations under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).
This filing accuses NEA of unilaterally denying holiday overtime pay, violating the expired contract and past practice and amounts to wage theft. NEA continues to make unilateral changes to long-standing policies to retaliate against employees and disregard language in the union contract for more than two decades.
This filing refers to the unlawful action taken by NEA when they canceled the hotels and travel arrangements of NEASO members in Philadelphia on July 5, 2024 in retaliation for the protected, concerted activity NEASO took in the form of a 3-day ULP strike.
This filing refers to the unlawful action taken by NEA when they locked out NEASO staff effective 7/8/24 in retaliation for protected, concerted action that NEASO took during the 3-day ULP strike from 7/5/24-7/7/24.
