Meet Staci Maiers, APR
Title: Senior Media Strategist
Years at NEA: 20 years
If you’ve ever seen NEA President Becky Pringle on CNN, heard her on NPR, or read what she has to say in the New York Times, chances are Staci Maiers—or one of the other members of NEA’s best-in-the-nation media team—made it happen.
Staci’s phone is full of contacts at every major television network and national newspaper in the U.S., plus plenty of local and regional journalists, too, and she works them, tirelessly.
Whether the issue is gun violence or school funding, Red for Ed to Read Across America, Americans listen to the voices of NEA members because Staci makes sure they’re heard.
Her current passion project? Developing a robust bank of NEA members who are trained (by her!) and ready to tell the world an authentic and compelling story about student learning, workplace conditions, education funding, or whatever is needed to move the needle on a great public school for every student.
Fun Facts about Staci
Staci has trained more than 7,000 NEA members in how to speak effectively to the media.
Staci graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with three concurrent majors—B.A. in journalism, B.A. in Russian, and a B.S. in political science with an emphasis in international political economy. And not only that, she was Round Robin Champion in 1995 in the Future Farmers of America’s “goat fitting and showing”—and has the silver belt buckle to prove it.
