Meet Erin Wagner

Working with the NEA members running for elected office so they can create necessary change in the communities where they live and teach and work.

Title: Senior Digital Strategist
Years at NEA: 6 years

You may have heard there’s a presidential election this year…maybe something landed in your inbox? Or on your social media feed?

Chances are good that Erin Wagner had something to do with it.

As one of two digital strategists at NEA doing all the digital things relating to this year’s mega-important White House race, plus big state elections, important ballot initiatives, and more, “We are working our butts off to make sure we have the best tools and the best strategies,” she says.

Her work matters because elections matter. But Erin’s favorite part of her job aren’t her efforts toward the nation’s biggest office.

It’s about working with the NEA members aiming for seats on school boards, in state legislatures, and on county commissions, city councils, community college boards, and more.

Through NEA’s See Educators Run program, Erin draws on her years of experience as a video and digital content producer for progressive candidates like Barack Obama and Russ Feingold, to help NEA members build websites, master email programs and social media platforms, set up donation pages—and to greatly influence the communities where they live and teach and work.

“They’re just such amazing people. Being able to train and support them is such a privilege—and it’s very rewarding for me.”

You know what’s not rewarding?

Her salary. Erin recently took on a second job to help support her young family.
